Music Swap :)

Hi friends! My blog is acting st-ra-nge today! But here goes! These two cards are from my wonderful friend Paola's swap over at the SCS called "What music are you?" I knew instantly that I wanted to incorporate my love of music and my faith and then thought of Josh Groban (I <3 Josh!!) and then it all sort of made sense - The Prayer by Josh Groban and Celine Dion! I had quite a time with this card, and this is actually attempt #5- I changed colors, dsp, cardstock, even the image several times and it just wasnt' quite right. Even now, in hindsight, I realize there are things I still need on this one - like sponge daubing around Hanna ;) We learn along the way, right? Prayer is a wonderful tool - I use it daily!

For my 2nd spot, I wanted something fun and upbeat and this song has always been a favorite - you hear it and hum it for the rest of the day! Find it on Youtube and give it a try - "Mama Said" is very catchy! Of course, The Shirelles are singing more about a boy, but I *borrowed* the line for this card - showing a tired, busy mom of 3 .... from Stampin'Bella. This is so me - I guess the 4th is still at home, or in the minivan - lol! I showed it to my dh and he didn't get it ...... he said "hmmm, I like it" and when I asked if he got it, he said no, not really, ROFL! Maybe another tired, busy, overwhelmed mom will? ;) TFL!!! This was such fun, once I got rolling! :)

A day out with Thomas the Tank! :)

What a fun day today! Today we took our annual trip to see Thomas the Tank! He comes to town only 2 weeks out of the year and we have been taking little Tony since he was just 6 months old. What a fun day out for us and to see his little face light up is absolutely precious. Although he's not really into Thomas anymore (it's all about Spongebob and Power Rangers now!), he still enjoys the trip to see the real engine - sorry the photo is sideways, I'm still trying to figure out a few things in blog world! Just leaaaaaaaaaaaaan to the right! Tee hee! He gets a big kick out of seeing him roll into the huge depot station, eyes actually moving around and smoke billowing out. Lucky us, this year we got to sit in the Thomas car! Every year we end up in the double decker car or the Caboose ;) This is such a special family day out for us, knowing it doesn't come around very often and gives us the wonderful warmth of celebrating something special with our little boy (being raised around so many girls!) If you ever get the chance to go, DO IT!

This sweet little face pretty much says it all :) He was all smiles and in his glory watching the tracks out the window and listening to "rolling along"!

Legos anyone?! Inside the train depot, about the size of an airplane hangar, it was filled with a bazillion stations with activities and things to do (as well as a huge carnival outside!) A little boy's dream come true!
FORE! On his way to the PGA! :) One of the cheesy little golf stations they had set up with about 10 rounds ........ can't go wrong with mini golf. He actually got one hole in one, but then again, the "grass" was only 3 feet long on each round, lol! ;)
Look what I found!!!!!!! A stamping station!! Ha ha!! There had to be 50+ children's activities inside the hangar and I instantly spotted these wooden, very kid used Thomas stamps! ROFL!! My girls hung out here while I went and played all 50 stations or so ;) I thought this was hilarious ~ it was an empty table, save one dad who was sitting there fixing his video recorder I think we should have showed up in mass and had a impromtu crop, whatcha think!!?!! :)
TFL!

Go Anya Go!

Happy Friday! YAY! Another long weekend of construction starts tomorrow, but luckily I get to escape it and take my son to see Thomas the Train that comes to town just 2 weeks out of the year. He'll be ecstatic (as will mommy who won't have to listen to boom, bang, ouch!) ;)
Today's Anya card has a double purpose ~ first, I needed a cheering up card for a dear friend that's a little down. I only own 2 TGF stamps and this happens to be one of them - yay! She's bold and bright but hopefully cheerful! Secondly, my friend Susan from the SCS is hosting a card kit swap and I planned to use Cheer Anya with some bubbly, fun DSP ........ and I saw this dsp from Doodlebug at my LSS and thought it would be a good match - upbeat, fun & fresh! (then I read later on her sisterhood sheet that she dislikes bold, bright colors - ooppps!) :( I paired it with Pink Pirouette from SU to soften it and give an example of you could use it with a softer color.
Have a terrific weekend to all! *hugs*

@ Yummy! @

Here is an oldie but goodie to share! We visited Disney & dd had this yummy lollipop and asked if she could "sample" it ;) I remember being in the car and talking to her, and didn't hear anything back (and believe me, her chit-chatting can rival her mama, lol!) so I turned around in my seat to see ...... this! I am SO glad I had my camera with me and could capture the moment. It was divine! This was one happy little girl :)
I used Bazill paper and I can't remember who this PP is ........ prima flowers, ribbon was from my LSS & Doodlebug letters. Sure wish I could eat one of those and get away with it ;) TFL!

I miss you, dad :**(

I don't have a card to post today, but I wanted to post a tribute to a very special person - my dad, Dale.
He lost his very courageous battle with cancer 4 years ago today - March 3rd. Every day without him is a difficult day and I still miss him dearly. He and I were so very close and his passing has left a huge void in my life. We brought him to live with us when we heard those terrible words "I have cancer, and it's terminal." When he learned he had cancer, the doctors all told him it had already metastized and he only had roughly 6 months to live. My dad gave us 3 more years! He was a fighter ... strong and courageous. He held on fast to those ropes of survival and hope and I am forever grateful for that "extra" time. He and I were so much alike .... easy going, laid back & would joke til the end of the day. Each day needed a smile & laughter :) The kids loved having him so close and with us every day - their bond grew stronger and I'm so blessed our son was born and he was able to share that with us. Although I forced myself to keep going after his passing, tending to 4 very busy kids and a household to run, he has never far from my thoughts. And I have felt him shining down on me, whispering words of comfort and peace. Heaven gained a new angel when he passed away - and I know that because I sent them mine :*( Rest in peace, sweet Father ........ I will love you always!
I received this poem from a friend when dad passed away - so many cards and warm notes of comfort and support, though much of it is nothing more than a blur. I haven't still to this day been able to read most of them, but this message truly bears repeating. And remember - love those ones around you with all your heart. You just might be their world :*) XoXoXo ~ Kel
A WORLD OF DREAMS
Lean against a tree,
And dream your world of dreams.
Work hard at what you like to do,
And try to overcome all obstacles.
Laugh at your mistakes,
And praise yourself for learning from them.
Pick some flowers,
And appreciate the beauty of nature.
Say hello to strangers,
And enjoy the people you know.
Don't be afraid to show your emotions,
Laughing and crying makes you feel better.
Love your friends and family with your entire being,
They are the most important part of your life.
Feel the calmness on a quiet sunny day,
Find a rainbow and live your world of dreams.
Always remember life is better than it seems.
